Abstract

This study aimed to improve Indonesian language learning outcomes in fable reading through the use of picture media among Grade II students at SDS Adicita Mulia Pontianak. The study employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 18 students, consisting of 8 boys and 10 girls. Data were collected through documentation, classroom observation, and learning achievement tests administered at the end of each cycle. The data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively by comparing mean scores and learning mastery percentages based on the Minimum Mastery Criteria of 76. The results showed that the students' mean score increased from 65 in the pre-cycle to 70 in Cycle I and 80 in Cycle II. The learning mastery percentage also increased from 27.78% in the pre-cycle to 44.44% in Cycle I and 72.22% in Cycle II. The improvement implemented in Cycle II, namely the use of pictures that students could hold while reading fable dialogues, made the learning process more concrete, interactive, and supportive of students' comprehension of the story. Therefore, picture media can improve Indonesian language learning outcomes in fable reading among Grade II students at SDS Adicita Mulia Pontianak.
